Another password manager in the KeePass family. Platforms: Windows (native), Mac and Linux (requires Mono). Not to be confused with version 1 of KeePass, which runs only on Windows.
Feature rich. Among other things:
- Open source.
- No cost.
- Can import and export data using common formats.
- Lots of plugins that extend functionality. Sadly none of them address the dreadful interface or poor usability.
Synchronization is not built in and is hardly straightforward. Some folks use one or another general purpose file synchronization tool to and sync it. That works for some people, fails for others, and (ominously) sometimes corrupts the KeePass database after having worked fine before. Pointing a general purpose backup or file sync tool to a live database is never a good idea, so the only surprise for me here is that it sometimes works.
PC Mag calls it “a tinkerer’s dream”.
