GETTING READY
Log in to your Gmail account's webmail interface and click (in the top right corner of the viewport) on Settings – Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Find the section "IMAP Access". Enable IMAP and any options you may wish. I normally accept the default options. When done, press "Save Changes".

CONFIGURE YOUR MAIL CLIENT
To configure your email client, your username is your email address of the form example@gmail.com. Then:

  • Server type: IMAP
  • Incoming (receiving) server: imap.gmail.com
  • Use secure connection: Yes, SSL
  • Authentication type: Password

  • Server type: SMTP
  • Outgoing (sending) server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Use secure connection: Yes, SSL
  • Authentication type: Plain or Login
