Exporting Evolution contacts

It is not well documented, but Evolution provides a command line tool to export its contacts to CSV or vCard formats.

To use:

/usr/lib/evolution/X.X/evolution-addressbook-export [OPTION...]

You have to supply the full path to the command, and you have to replace “X.X” with the version number found on your system.

Some useful options are:

  • Export to CSV: –format=csv > contacts.csv
  • Export to vCard: –format=vcard > contacts.vcf
  • See all available options: –help
